In a glorious quarter-hour around 4.30 pm this afternoon, City produced what may prove to a defining spell in the season, both for ourselves and our visitors from up the A46.

What had hitherto been a very tight, dour encounter, between two closely-matched sides, suddenly sparked into life as a Paul Gallagher free-kick caused mayhem in the visiting penalty area and Bruno Berner smashed the ball home from close range.

The trees, who looked like settling for a 0-0 draw to end their recent away losing streak, suddenly woke up and might have had a penalty when a goalbound shot was blocked with what looked suspiciously like a raised hand.

But sometimes, what goes around, comes around. Those of us who travelled to the City Ground in December and saw several equally marginal decisions fall in Forest's favour were pleased to see us get the rub of the green for a change.

When Gallagher fired home another free-kick after 79 minutes to put City two up, the destination of the points looked secure. And Andy King's goal from close range just two minutes later was the icing on the cake.

City's place in the top six looks a lot safer now, after a month which has seen us go SEVEN games unbeaten. Indeed, the momentum is now building up sufficiently for us to consider catching up Forest before the end of the season.
